Costs Involved

Help available to pay costs

Work and Income NZ (WINZ) help young parents (16-19yrs old) to continue on their education path by providing the Young Parent Payment (YPP), available with this is the Guaranteed Childcare Assistance Payment (GCAP) and Training Incentive Allowance (TIA). These payments will pay for all childcare, schooling and transport costs.  Applications can be made for this assistance through the local VIBE Youth Service.

No student will be turned away because of hardship

 

Uniform:

There is no uniform at our school, but if a student is attending Heretaunga College for classes they can opt to wear uniform when attending the college.

School Costs

Titiro Whakamua has opted into the MOE donation scheme and will not be charging for donations, however there are still some costs for stationery, Student ID cards, non-curriculum printing and non-curriculum activities (please note if you are on YPP these costs will paid by WINZ):

NB: Trips mainly consist of outings with our tamariki, for example; an annual picnic outing, Wellington Zoo, Rimutaka Gym, H2O swimming, Staglands as well as trips for students e.g. Wellington City experiences, Royal New Zealand ballet performances, team building with other TPU's and other self-esteem building trips, etc.  These activities are not part of curriculum-based learning but do provide life experiences which build self-esteem, confidence and life learning experiences.

Transport

Titiro Whakamua run a bus service to and from home to school, contact the office to see if a seat is available.

Childcare

Titiro Whakamua Early Childhood Education Centre offers a supportive, nurturing environment that promotes for both baby and mum.  Hot cooked lunches are provided for 7 months and up.  New mothers have the option of keeping infants in the classroom for a period of time.
