There is no English language requirement to study in the Heretaunga English Language programme. A willingness and determination to work on improving your English is all that is required.
Class sizes are kept small to ensure that students receive a high level of teacher attention and are able to make rapid progress.
Students will join the programme for a minimum of 4 weeks. After 10 weeks students would normally be able to transfer to the High School Programme.
Courses are matched to your needs Each student is assessed when they arrive to determine their English Language needs. The course followed will depend on individual ability in English. Each student has a language course and language support that matches their need.
We give students the support they need to improve their English as quickly as possible.
The school prepares senior students for the IELTS examination. Arrangements can also be made for students to enter the TOEFL examinations.
The English language programme is in brand new, purpose built classrooms and facilities providing a pleasant learning environment for staff and students.
The staff use a variety of teaching strategies and have instant access to multi-media resources. This allows lessons to be taught in the most appropriate way to ensure a student's quick understanding.
Teachers are trained and experienced in teaching English as a second language. They are committed to achieving success for all students. They have experience in preparing students for tertiary study and for the IELTS and TOEFL exams.
The success of the program is ensured by students staying in English speaking homestays and sharing the school campus with Kiwi students.
Once some confidence in English has been achieved students are able to change in to one of the other programmes.
