Senior students are actively involved in keeping the school a calm and safe environment, they assist staff in doing duties and keeping a strong presence in the school.
Year 13 students are trained to work with small groups of Year 9 students as they begin their secondary education. The peer support leaders run special programmes and also assist in form classes. Designed to give Year 9 students contact with positive role models, it aims to ensure that each Year 9 student has a Year 13 student he/she knows and feels able to approach.
Students have easy access to a variety of health services and advice.
A full range of counselling services are available through a full-time trained counsellor on-site. Referral can be made to specialist counsellors as needed.
The youth coaches work with students who are aged between 16-17 who are at risk of leaving school without gaining NCEA level 1 or 2. The coaches meet with the identified students regularly to help keep them on track in terms of what they do both inside and outside of school.
