English Language Programme

There is no English language requirement to study in the Heretaunga English Language programme. A willingness and determination to work on improving your English is all that is required.  Students must provide evidence of good school attendance and a good attitude at school.

Class sizes are kept small to ensure that students receive a high level of teacher attention and are able to make rapid progress.

Students will join the programme for a minimum of 4 weeks. Once some confidence in English has been achieved students are able to change in to one of the other programmes.

Each student is assessed when they arrive to determine their English Language needs.  Each student has a language course and language support that matches their need.  There will be no more than 3 hours of English language tuition per day.  This can allow students to enrol in other courses from the schools timetable that may be of interest e.g. Physical Education, Music, Visual Art.

Modern Facilities

The English language programme is in brand new, purpose built classrooms and facilities providing a pleasant learning environment for staff and students.

The staff use a variety of teaching strategies and have instant access to multi-media resources. This allows lessons to be taught in the most appropriate way to ensure a student's quick understanding.

Staff

Teachers are trained and experienced in teaching English as a second language. They are committed to achieving success for all students. They have experience in preparing students for tertiary study and for the IELTS and TOEFL exams.

Homestays

The success of the programme is ensured by students staying in English speaking homestays and sharing the school campus with Kiwi students.
