In New Zealand, there are a number of training opportunities available to students when they leave high school. The most common that lead to tertiary qualifications are:

New Zealand universities have good international standings. New Zealanders choose a university because of its location, subject specialties, convenience and lifestyle. Entrance to a New Zealand University is easily obtained from Heretaunga College. International students need University English and language proficiency at the equivalent of IELTS 6 or 6.5. Students with University Entrance, obtained from Heretaunga College, can go to any university in New Zealand that they choose. University websites have specific information on entry requirements New Zealand University Entrance is recognised in many overseas countries.
Offer certificate & diploma qualifications. Some may offer degree qualifications in some subjects like commerce and computing. There are two in Wellington; WelTec and Whitireia. Entrance qualifications will depend on the area of study. most require some NCEA credits at Level 2. Refer to individual websites to see the diverse range of programmes on offer.
